Sizing information for BPC 10.0 NW

 

When sizing your BPC 10.0 NW project is it important to know about the different resources available for sizing. This first part of the blog coverst the documents available.

This sizing guide is the central document for sizing BPC 10.0.

Changes in sizing between BPC 7.5 and 10.0 NW

 

Significant changes were introduced with the BPC 10.0 NW release. For one, the .NET layer was removed and its function was taken over by the ABAP server. In addition, the BW 7.3 platform removes the “100 user limit” per application server.

 

With more large enterprise customers adopting BPC, SAP went through an elaborate sizing exercise to create the BPC 10.0 sizing guide. While the 7.5 guide was mainly based on read, write and load operations, the efforts for the 10.0 guide went way beyond and included other items not accounted for in the 7.5 guide. Namely:

 

-       Business Process Flows

-       Change Work Status (EPM Addin Client)

-       Dimension processing

-       Upload Transactional Data  (DataManager)

-       Transactional Data Transfer Between Cubes  (DataManager)

-       Logic calculations

-       Work Status (Web Client)

-       Web Reporting

-       User Input Data via the Web Client

 

In addition to that we dropped the “basic” scenario from the 7.5 guide and added a large enterprise scenario "Category 3" to the guide.

 

When comparing the 7.5 sizing to the 10.0 numbers, it is an apples-to-oranges comparison because of all the aforementioned  items that we added to the scenarios 10.0 testing. But a rough comparison between the 7.5 NW and 10.0 NW SAPS numbers shows the following picture:
