How to Move Your Blogs
One of the first things we asked you to do (and this is communicated in Chip Rodgers’ blog about the top 10 things users should do when the new SCN launches) is to move your blogs from your personal space to the topic space that is most relevant. This would ensure that your blogs are being seen by users for whom they’re intended.
As part of the migration of content from the old to the new, system redirects were implemented to ensure you are able to find your content. This has an impact on your blogs: when you move blogs from your personal space into topic spaces, the blog URL will change – that means that the redirects will no longer work. For example:
- The original blog has a URL similar to this: http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/weblogs?blog=/pub/wlg/97216
- The redirect would take you to your personal space. This blog would be migrated and would have a URL like this: http://scn.sap.com/people/patrick.flanders/blog/2012/03/14/my-cool-blog
- Once you move your blog, it would have a URL like this (for this example, the blog is in the “About Us” space): http://scn.sap.com/community/about/blog/2012/03/13/my-cool-blog . At this point, the redirect would no longer work.
If your old blogs are linked to from other areas of SCN, or from other sites, you should consider updating those places with the new URL. This is also important if you’ve created a blog series – most have links to all the blogs in the series, and it would be prudent to ensure that each instance is updated with the new URL.
There’s certainly some effort required of bloggers, but with the new Jive-based platform, it’s a two-click process – very easy and intuitive. To make the process easy, I’ve created a “tip in a minute” video that walks through the steps required to move your blogs:
Hey Pat,
I moved my blogs over and it worked like a charm!
Quick question - the "views" column seems to have been reset, or at least the stats are much lower than what I saw on the old SCN. Is that true? Thanks!
Great, Chris...thanks!
Hi Patrick,
I stated also that the number of "views" has decreased. Has it been reset ?
Regards,
Fabienne
Hi Fabienne...my sense is that this is a result of not all the blogs having been moved over. Did you move all your blogs into the spaces where you want them to go?
Hi Patrick,
I find all my blogs in my personal space and I'm going to move them in the relevant topic space. The point is that the figurs in the column 'views'' have decreased and I don't think that moving the blogs from my space to another (EPM space or IFRS space) would change the statistics. For instance, for the blog "How to manage scope changes with SAP BusinessObjects Planning and consolidation 10.0, version for SAP NetWeaver, Starter kit for IFRS part 4", the number page views on March 5th 2012 was 694 whereas it is now 290, for the part 5 it was 284 and is now of 171. That's why I was assuming that figurs had been reset.
Best regards,
Fabienne
Hi Pat,
I dont find my blogs there in my blog posts. An suggestions.!
Try going to your personal profile > content tab > blogs. Check there to see if your blogs are there. If so (and they should be), you can move them into the spaces where they belong.
I'm not finding my Blog that was posted in the old SCN on March 10th. New SCN is telling I don't have a blog page Yet!.
Hi Sudahar...please go into your personal profile > content tab > blogs. Your migrated blogs should appear there.
Yes. They should. But they are not appearing there. and nowhere. even I searched with the topic of my blog. no luck.
Can you give me names of some of the blogs? I'll take a look.
"MM Service Entry Sheet Workflow Configuration"
I'm still not able to retrieve my old blogs. sad that my all efforts got wasted.
any idea where my blog went ?
Hi Sudha,
I am also looking for your blog "MM Service Entry Sheet Workflow Configuration", not able to find anywhere. What the hell is happening with this new SCN. 😡
General Correction:
Hi SCN,
i do not find my posts in this link. kindly let me know where can i see my questions and where to post the threads?
Hi Srinivas...in each space, you can navigate to the "content" tab, and once there, you can click on the "discussions" link. That will take you to the discussions for that particular space. You can then respond to questions and interact there.
Hi colleagues,
I found my blogs migrated under profile > content tab > blogs. Just none of the previously uploaded and referenced images is displayed any more in the blogs.
Will this be fixed soon?
Thank you and Regards,
Bernd

Hi Bernd...we're aware of this issue (images missing) and have identified the cause. We're working on a fix for it and hope to have it resolved soon.
Hi Bernd...are you still unable to locate images (or, are they still not showing up?)?
I am in the same situation
instead of images I have a links that lead to knowhere.
So if Blogs are moved am I right that the old link will no longer work? So my favourites in the browser will all be broken? ;-(
Hi Jason...sorry for the confusion with this. Have you had a chance to move your blogs? If so, how did it go?
On the content tab I coul only find the blogs already published, but the ones I was working, they are not there...how can I find them?
😕
Hi there,
I'm a moderator of a category and several authors wrote blogs for my category in the old SDN. How do I get these blogs back? Do I need to reach out to each of these authors or is there a functionality for a "mass transfer"?
Reaching out to all authors could be challenging 😕
Thanks for any advices
Timo
Thanks for info... Moved all my blogs.
Thanks,
Deepak
Hi,
I am not able to find my old questions that I posted in forums. I went to profile --> content --> Blog posts. But did not find my old questions.
Where can I find them?
Regards
Manotosh
Hi Mantosh...if you're looking for forums, then try going to the content tab, and then on the "discussions" button. Discussions and blogs are considered different content types in our new platform. Have a look and let me know if you are still unable to find it. Thanks.

Hi Patrick
I started to write an article (Document) in the PI/SOA space but havent published it yet as its WIP. Please could you let me know how can I go back to continue working on it? I dont see a link that points to unpublished documents on SCN.
Regards
Arijit
Hi Arjit...can you locate the document? If yes, then click on the "edit" button on the right side of the page - this will put it back into edit mode and you can update it. Hope that helps.
Hi Patrick
I have an interim solution here. I had a look at my IE browsing history for the past few days. I came across a number of SCN URLs each with a Document ID. I tried them one-by-one till I got to my document.
But I am not convinced that this is the correct approach to locate unpublished work. Let us say that the author is away from SCN for a long time. IE would not retain his browsing history for that long. There must be a better way to trace Work In Progress articles. Could you please let us know what the right way is? If there isn't, then its clearly a missing functionality. And SCN urgently needs to provide this; else there will many more bloggers who will lose their unpublished work (or have a challenging time finding it).
Happy Easter to you and the rest of the SCN crew!
Regards
Arijit
Hi collegues, am a new member here and also a student master SAP. Please can i know what the forum is all about.thanks
Hi Patrick,
I created my first blog ("Impact of transaction RSRHIERARCHYVIRT to planning data (IP)") and unfortunately moved it to the wrong space ("SAP Business Explorer (SAP BEx)"). I would like to move or add it to another space ("Business Planning").
Do I have to delete and recreate it or can you tell me a better way to achieve this?
Thank you very much!
Best Regards,
Volker Schottdorf
Hi Volker...I have tried to move it, but am unable to. I think you're suggestion, while not the desired way we want to be able to do this, may be the best quick fix for now. If you try it and it does not work, please let me know. Thanks
HI,
I have already asumed the bad news, the blogs that were not published before this change in SDN, are gone forever and will not be retrieved
(shame, the hours I have spent writing)
As well I have noticed that in some of my blogs, may of the pics are gone, example
http://scn.sap.com/community/business-one/blog/2011/05/30/edit-the-target-schema-for-xml-invoice-cfd
you will see things like this, that do not lead to anywhere
https://weblogs.sdn.sap.com/weblogs/images/251872437/3c.jpg|height=91|alt=3c|width=573|src=https://weblogs.sdn.sap.
Did not anybody test the new SDN before releasing?, or was it asumed that this SDN would only work for new blogs 😡 😡 😡
Hi Jose...we're in the midst of implementing some fixes. One of those main fixes is migrating all the images that were apparently not migrated in our first move. So we should have this taken care of shortly and you will see your images in your blogs. We will likely have a notification on the site to alert users to this update. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Hello Patrick,
I created a draft of my blog and saved it yesterday. Today I am unable to locate the draft blog. I searched under my profile but it is missing.
Can you let me know, where are the draft copy of the blogs are saved?
Regards,
Sharath
Hi Sharath,
I had the same issue a while back. Oliver Kohl helped me on that occasion; please could you try the following -
There is a link to your drafts but unfortunately it is well hidden. Go to Browse -> Content using the button in the right side of the header and you will find a link called draft in the left hand navigation at the very top.
Regards
Arijit
Hello Arijit,
Thanks for the navigation link to draft. It worked.
SCN should find a better navigation option, esp. under the user -> content.
Regards,
Sharath
Hi Sharath
I mentioned a workaround solution to Patrick regarding this (its also here in this post) -

My blog is corrupted:
http://scn.sap.com/people/dariusz.lewandowski/blog/2012/03/09/expert-routine--why-not-22
Is it possible that you send me a content of my blogs from previous SDN version? Or do something that it is back again in old form?
Regards,
DL
Hi Dariusz...we are making some changes to the platform this weekend, and are hoping that a number of bugs (including the one that's causing blog rendering like this). We should see what happens this weekend and can address issues afterwards if needed.
Hi Patric,
Any progress with solving this issue? My blogs are still corrupted...
For example:

Hi Patrick,
I published a blog in a different space and now I would like to move my blog in current space. I followed your suggestion by accessing content through profile and then moving. But when I try to do it, I dont get option of "Move" in "Action" section.
Am I doing something wrong??
