Quickly Customize Transaction Types in SAP Solution Manager 7.1

SAP Incident and Change Request Management are commonly used functionalities and we go for plenty of customizations including Status Profile customization or Action profile customization.

SAP Solution Manager 7.1 is full of surprises and yet another but the most demanding feature we always wanted was to have a wizard which can do the quick customization for incident and change management.

Yes now it is possible from Solution Manager 7.1  onwards where we get a Wizard as shown below

As shown in the screen shot we run this wizard based upon our requirement to create a customer specific Z* Transaction Type like ZMIN etc for SMIN(Standard).

This saves plenty of time which was required earlier to do so in SAP Solution Manager 7.0 or SAP Solution Manager 7.0 EHP1.

Moreover this wizard check pre-requisites and sap notes for change request management and we can set the status as executed or not.

for e.g. consider a situation where standard incident management transaction type can’t fulfill all the customer requirement and we need to enhance either the status profile or action profile for the same.

In other words,we want to create a ZMIN Transaction type for incident management, a new customer specific transaction type so that we don’t modify the standard SAP delivered transaction type.

To achieve it or do the above configuration, its too easy in SAP Solution Manager 7.1.

Enter Transaction Solman_workcenter and click on Solution Manager Configuration Workcenter and we get the below screen.

Further we can click the next button to proceed to next step and start copying the standard transaction type as shown below.

Also we can notice here that not only standard customizing can be done for transaction types but we can go ahead with customization of Business role too.

Further we can proceed to finish the wizard based upon our requirement and this provides  a wonderful tool to quickly create a new transaction type which can be used for incident management or change request management.

Thus above shows an easier way of achieving it which requires lesser amount of time & efforts.
