Hello Community,

Its been long since I had thought about blogging on SCN. It was even before I joined SAP. It was even before 2004.

But I think this year the time has come. I heard call for the blogs by our SAP mentor Andreas  for the Bydesign community and thought it was time to act.

A blog should be well thought of and informative piece of object that has the right attributes and be available to public. I hope this fast and first piece do that job. If it does not then I request you readers to help me correct it and improve it.

This blog is mainly targeted to the needs of partners and customers. There are couple of main reasons for partners to jump into SAP ByDesign landscape, for the first it is a cloud based offering from SAP, the leader in ERP solutions. With cloud computing gaining traction it provides the right mix for vendors who are targeting customers in this segment.

The other reason being the ability to build apps and compliment the solution. But exercise caution as the SDK is still not that mature so as to help you rapidly build apps in all the areas.

ByDesign customers are still experiencing the solution and trying to fit it into their business landscape and it would really take time for mass adoption of these apps. So as partners, I feel we should really work closely with customers and understand their business and suggest improvements to their business process to fit SAP standards rather than look at the gaps and start building apps/webservices for them.

I feel by helping our customers who are moving into the big league and helping them in the right direction will definetely help both the partner and SAP in the long run.

But that does not stop us from innovating and coming up with services that can be really helpful to a wider audience.

To give you an idea, there are very good webservices that you can suggest customers and also build similar services. Please visit PartnerSolutions for more details.

I also thought of sharing some links related to ByD apps since I did not find them in SCN.
