What are SAP NetWeaver Portal, Enterprise Workspaces?
First some basics on the product. SAP NetWeaver Portal, enterprise workspaces are an add-on to SAP NetWeaver Portal. The initial and prime goal of enterprise workspaces is to enable quick and easy re-combination of existing corporate assets, with emphasis on structured content such as reports or applications.
And the Key Features and Benefits?
They are intended to provide a flexible, intuitive environment on top of the SAP NetWeaver Portal, which allows business users to integrate, organize and use various content assets such as applications, reports, dashboards, web content and documents either from SAP or Non-SAP systems.
This environment provides two types of workspaces: personal and shared. Users can organize content for their own purposes in a personal workspace, or share the content with a team or group of colleagues in a shared workspace.
All of that is done using a state-of-the-art user-experience and providing a self-service approach for the end-users.
Enterprise workspaces are built on top of SAP NetWeaver Portal, they leverage existing portal capabilities like single sign on, system landscape governance etc. Enterprise workspaces do not require any additional hardware or software investment, as it is installed on the current Portal server.
Available Releases ?
The following releases are available:
- Enterprise workspaces 1.0 are generally available since Q4 2010.
- The new release of enterprise workspaces 1.1 is generally available since October 18, 2011. Enterprise workspaces 1.1 support enhancement package 1 and 2 of SAP NetWeaver Portal 7.0 and support also SAP NetWeaver Portal 7.3.

How to Get the Free Trial Version?
A trail version of SAP NetWeaver Portal, enterprise workspaces 1.1 is now available on the download area of SDN. For downloading the trial version, follow this link: http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/downloads?rid=/library/uuid/80d323fb-71e7-2e10-9b9a-bd830ca433a1.
Downloading and installing the trial version provides a fully functional version of the product for a trial period of 90 days.
