There are many environments where have both BusinessObjects WebI and native BEx Web reports being used by the business.
For instance, we may have developed Financial reports like the Balance Sheet and Gross Margin reports in Crystal/WebIntelligence for formatting purposes, and for detailed analysis we have the GL details report which is delivered in native BEx Web due to the complexity and size of the report.
Or we may have a lot of legacy reports built using BEx queries and the newer reports being developed in Crystal or WebIntelligence.
In these scenarios, it is easier for the business users to access all the reports in one place, rather than having to navigate to different folders or portals to access related reports.
One solution to host them in the same folder, is to create a hyperlink inside the BusinessObjects folder to the URL of BEx report.
There are issues when we create the hyperlink directly from BOBJ to BEx. The hyperlinked page goes into a loop in Tomcat when accessing the URL directly. We can overcome this by creating a hyperlink to a simple HTML page (shown below)which in turn automatically redirects you to the URL of the BEx report.
The redirect code is shown below:
We may need to create one HTML page for every report being accessed.
When this solution is hosted inside SAP Netweaver via KM integration, the solution becomes becomes transparent to the end users. They can access BEx, WebI and Crystal reports all from the same folder.
