During the past several weeks, I have received many emails from customers asking about access to a live SAP HANA system in our SAP Education class, TZHANA.  While this is only a 2-day class, there are many hands-on student activities on a live SAP HANA server.

In addition to the SAP HANA in-memory database, our training landscape includes an SAP ECC system with log-based replication configured. The landscape also includes SAP Business Objects Data Services for Data Provisioning.  Several BI client tools are also included in our landscape such as SAP Business Objects Explorer, Analysis for Office, and Crystal Reports.

As part of the TZHANA course, students create an SAP HANA model based on SAP ECC Controlling and Profitability Analysis.  Real-time CO-PA reporting is enabled when these SAP HANA Models are viewed from the front-end client tools. With in-memory processing on the SAP HANA database, the data retrieval is very fast.  For example, 25 million records can be processed in less than a second.

Hands-On Student Activities in TZHANA Include:

  • SAP HANA Studio: Review Perspectives, Create Systems, Delivery Units and Packages
  • Architecture: Tables, Schemas
  • Data Services: Import MetaData,  Create a Project,  Job,  DataFlow, and DataStore to load table data to SAP HANA
  • Modeling (Based on ECC Controlling and Profitability Analysis): Create Attribute Views, Analytic views and Calculation Views.
  • Import and Export Models
  • Reporting and Analysis with SAP HANA models: Connect from SAP HANA to MS Excel,  SAP Business Objects Explorer, Analysis for Office, and Crystal Reports to analyze data using the SAP HANA Models that were created in class
  • SAP HANA Security: Create Users, Roles and Analytic Privileges.

In addition to the hands-on activities described above, the TZHANA course is also one of the primary courses provided to help students prepare for the newly released SAP HANA certification exam, C_HANAIMP_10
