SAP Inside Track India – Why should you be there!

SAP Inside Track India being cohosted at Bangalore and Kolkata on December 3 (next Saturday) gives an unique opportunity to meet with fellow Community Members face-to-face, learn about new things, discuss on current topics and most importantly have a good time on an weekend in an unconference style.
The event was announced by Dipankar Saha in SAP Inside Track India 2011 – Here we go! recently and he had earlier SAP Inside Track India – Lets make it happen! about proposed timing and interest about the event through a survey call. We had SAP Inside Track at Bangalore last year which was well attended and appreciated. If you are interested check out this wiki page.

For this year the idea was to co-host at least in two locations on same day and make it SAP Inside Track India instead of just Bangalore and Kolkata. The motivation for this year’s event was to extend the passion, interest and community reach to more locations. Thanks to SAP Labs at Bangalore and IBM India at Kolkata we were able to secure venue with audio-visual infrastructure facilities.

Now the onus is on us Community Members to make this event a huge success.
There has been pretty good signups for both Bangalore and Kolkata as you can see from Attendee List. The Agenda with sessions planned is also now available in the SAP Inside Track India main Wiki page. There was a question whether there will be sessions on new technologies like HANA, Business Objects from SAP Product Management Team. As I had replied back privately to Kumud Singh (one of the first signups and presenter) SIT is “For the Community, By the Community” that is why sessions are supposed to be more of discussion oriented, sharing experience and be supposed to be quite interactive. Keeping that in mind we have a good mix of sessions from different background so far including one on HANA by Sudipta who is the brain behind Project Charitra.

We have two remote sessions planned by SAP Mentors Gregor Wolf who will join us from Europe showing four Code Exchange projects and another by Thomas Jung on UI technologies within NetWeaver Business Client. In addition we may have another roundtable discussion with Jon Reed and others on your queries about SAP skills in this fast-changing SAP world.

And to keep attendees on their toes there is a quiz being planned by enthusiast Anjaneya Bhardwaj over lunch. He is also pushing hard to bring out an SIT India TShirt – see his T-Shirt Mania at SIT Banglore 2011. This is indeed sign of viral marketing + Community spirit exemplified.

As far as the day’s agenda is planned there will be registration with remote introduction by another SAP Mentor Jim Spath who was a much visible face at SAP TechEd Bangalore his year and also hosted Bollywood Edition of SCNotties. Look forward to him doing a remote self intro and kick-off the day’s event. We shall have Speed Networking session –  those who have experienced it earlier know its a great way to do quick round of self-introduction and break ice. Next would be a series of sessions presented by Kumud Singh, Sangeeth Parvatam, Nilay Ghosh and Jansi Rani Murugesan at Bangalore and Kolkata physically but each location will webcast it so that all sessions are available to both locations.

There might be some change if we have more session proposed at either of the locations. So keep tuned and why not consider proposing one.   This is one great chance to share your experience, speak publicly and hone your presentation skills.
The plan is to wrap-up the day with a quick discussion about the event – what went well, what can be areas of improvement, whether it met most of the attendee expectations. We shall have a quick round of giveaway from event sponsor SAP Press who are providing with discount vouchers to all attendees plus something more [secret for now].

Looking forward to meet you at SAP Inside Track India on December 3 at SAP Labs Bangalore along with other Community Members. If you are attending at Kolkata then you will meet buddyDip(ankar) Saha.

PS: On the Wiki page right at the end I have attended a section on Car Sharing / Pooling (sameless plug from SIT NL). If you are around Kundalahalli Gate / AECS Layout feel free to hop in my car till seats last :D.

      Yes I am In .

I have few open question on this.

When do we get a confirmation that you will be able to make a presenatation ? As you can see i have proposed a quiz but i am unsure whether i will get a slot or not ?

Should'nt we plan a common T-shirt(Self funded) for all attendees of  the event which will help us to Break the ice more easily ...

As for T-Shirts, I know of one attendee who is ready, per this pic.  I doubt if it makes sense for all to use this motif, as not everyone is on Twitter. But maybe SCN IDs, if not too lengthy?

Even i haven't zeroed down on what should be there .twitter/SCN id/Names ...What i see as a problem is despite of having so may names on Wiki page in attendee list , i did'nt find enough acceptence/rejection for it, we need to build a momentum so that members  who hv signed on do reach venue as well ....and they have a feeling what they are upto ( T-Shirt may be a begining ). To achieve this i will suggest you to  write a blog(if i write it will take time to get approved ) to gather the mood around this proposal among atendees .

      Hi Anjaneya,
We'll definitely try to accommodate your proposed session as the agenda will get finalized hopefully by this week.
For the T-shirt I am not sure whether it can be arranged given the fact the timeline is very short and we don't have any sponsor or funds ready. Please share if you have any specific ideas about it. Definitely a point to be considered for next year.

      Thanks,
      Dipankar

      Hi Anjaneya,
The idea about Quiz is definitely good. Getting a full session would be difficult as we got couple of sessions confirmed which would be of interest to all. Having said that most likely we shall have the quiz during lunch time (you need to finish lunch in advance :D). Let's talk early this week to finalize.
      Best regards,
      Somnath

I hope you have a lot of people there, and ready to learn.  To me it is a mini SAP Teched, one day of learning that is completely free!  Who doesn't like something free?

Best of luck and a big THANK YOU for putting this on.  It is hard to do.

I wish I could be there - it sounds like an amazing group of speakers.

Yes this year looks to be yet another terrific SIT at Bangalore/Kolkata. I guess it's not all free because one needs to invest precious time from weekend especially from family. But then again many of us see the Community as extended family.
We are working on getting SAPConnect link open to all! Watchout for update in wiki page 😀
