Last week you might have seen Make Your Voice heard - SAP BusinessObjects BI and SAP NetWeaver BW on the new IdeaPlace area for suggestions on the integration of SAP BusinessObjects BI with SAP NetWeaver BW. In case you have not seen it yet - follow this link and provide your input on the suggestions.

In addition to IdeaPlace we will also create a new ASUG Influence Council to focus on a number of topics as part of the integration between SAP BusinessObjects BI, SAP Netweaver BW, and SAP ERP.

Now you might ask yourself : "What is the difference between IdeaPlace and an ASUG Influence Council?"

Here is my short view on it:

IdeaPlace provides everyone the ability to make suggestions and to vote on suggestions. You could call it "crow dsourcing" if you would like.

An ASUG Influence Council is a more focused environment, where SAP is working with a selected list of customers (ASUG members) on a specific product area to gather the requirements and feedback from those customers. The ASUG Influence Council is targeting a specific product release and also requires the customers to commit to some "work", which is normally 1 - 2 meetings every month but could also be more, depending on the topics.

On January 10, 2012 we will kick off a new ASUG Influence Council focused on the integration between SAP BusinessObjects BI, SAP NetWeaver BW, and SAP ERP. Right now we are planning to work with these customers for at least 12 months.

Currently the plan is to focus on topics, such as :

  • Data Connectivity / Meta Data Management
  • User Management /Authorization Management (e.g. Single Sign On, ...)
  • BI Platform Capabilities (e.g publication / broadcasting)
  • User Interaction& Navigation with information (e.g. prompting, charting, using hierarchies,..)
  • BI Product Interoperability (e.g. Report Report Interface, ...)"

The ASUG Influence Council is not focusing on a single BI client, but instead the focus is across the complete BI Suite with the integration into an SAP landscape always in mind. This Influence Council is not focusing on the integration with SAP HANA or any non-SAP environments.

Now what is your Next Action ?

If you are a ASUG member and interested to join this Influence Council you should register for the launch on January 10, 2012 (you need to be logged on to the ASUG web site).

During the session we will explain more of the details and timelines and then allow ASUG members to apply for the Influence Council.

.... and get ready to hear and see more of me when you get selected.
