Can Mobile Analytics help as we reach a population of 7Billion?

Many people in 3rdworld countries have limited access to computers, or WiFi but they have access to inexpensive mobile devices and solely rely on these devices to be connected to information.  Can we leverage this means of communication to become intelligent in our day to day world?

SAP and the UNFPA (United Nations Population Fund) have teamed up to help shed light on the challenges and open up the discussion for a world of 7 billion.

They hosted an Innovation Day on October 24 that brought together technology experts, designers, business experts, and non-profits at the SAP Palo Alto Labs to co-innovate and design solutions for the next billion.

A series of analytic dashboards have been built leveraging United Nations world population data to analyze aspects of birth vs. death rates and population segmentation by country and age, and statistical trends. These visual dashboards leverage SAP’s latest business analytics technology (SAP BusinessObjects 4.0) on top of BIG (world population) data, allowing you to quickly navigate and investigate information in real-time, try it for yourself.

This dashboard allows you to take a closer look at the world population in 2011 and beyond: Check out populations by region or country. Look at the proportion of young and old. See what various paths the future population growth may take.

If we all could make more fact-based decisions in our day-to-day work and personal lives, this could make a tremendous impact on the world. Learn more about mobile analytics from SAP and how it might help you and your organization know if the moment, act now, and deliver results anywhere.
