On Halloween (Oct 31, 2011) the global population will have reached 7 billion. A world of 7 billion and beyond has implications on sustainability, urbanization, access to health services and youth empowerment – however, it also offers a rare call-to-action to renew commitment for a healthy and sustainable world.

SAP and the UNFPA(United Nations Population Fund) have teamed up to help shed light on the challenges and open up the discussion for a world of 7 billion. To do this a series of analytic dashboards have been built leveraging United Nations world population data to analyze aspects of birth vs. death rates and population segmentation by country and age, and statistical trends. These visual dashboards leverage SAP’s latest business analytics technology (SAP BusinessObjects 4.0) on top of BIG (world population) data, allowing you to quickly navigate and investigate information in real-time, try it for yourself.

Handling BIG data is something SAP has been doing with customers in the business world for many years and has recently made significant enhancements with the new in-memory computing solution called SAP HANA, supporting the future of enterprise business data.
