At the ASUG BusinessObjects User Conference earlier this month, several ASUG Influence Councils met and were featured on ASUGNews.   What do ASUG Influence Councils do?  For that I refer you to Greg Myers’ blog “We had a say before the GA“.

With 3% of the content at the ASUG BusinessObjects User Conference, ASUG Volunteer Service Award winner and SAP Mentor Derek Loranca carried a heavy load at this conference handling the ASUG Dashboard Influence Council, ASUG BusinessObjects Enterprise / BI Platform, Semantic Layer and BI In-Product Education Influence Council. Additionally he had his own education session.  Congratulations to Derek on his award – well done:

ASUG Crystal Reports Influence Council – Courtney Bjorlin interviewed ASUG Crystal Influence Customer Chair Brian Durning along with SAP’s Henry Kam and Mandeep Jassal.   This ASUG Influence Council influenced new chart types and new data connection options.

Derek Loranca talks Influence Councils here with Thomas Wailgum.  Derek says the big wins for ASUG members are at these ASUG product influence councils.

Derek gave a great example of how the ASUG Dashboarding Influence council “influenced” SAP.  Derek speaks how the collective voice of ASUG customers can influence SAP and how this can benefit small BusinessObjects customers.

See below tweet from Chris Pohl to see how one of Derek’s Influence Council’s went:

Courtney Bjorlin interviewed SAP’s Ina Mutschelknaus and ASUG Influence Customer Chair Ernie Phelps for the Enterprise Information Management (EIM) Influence Council.  Click here to see the interview.  Ina gives a good description of the EIM tools, including how Information Steward gives you a “pulse” of the data on your system.  For 2012 the ASUG EIM Influence Council will focus on information governance and BIG data.

Special thanks to Courtney and Tom of ASUGNews for highlighting the ASUG Influence Councils in their interviews.  Check out ASUGOnline today!

Thanks for the kind words!  I really hope that BOBJ folks see the benefit of ASUG Influence, especially with the Valueship being extended for 2012.
