In a Migration of SAP-delivered BI Content to SAP BW 7.0 technology – An Online Survey I presented a short online questionnaire to ask you for your feedback regarding the migration of SAP-delivered BI Content to SAP BW 7.0 technology. Below I show the detailed results of this online survey which was filled and sent to SAP 168 times.

SAP BI Content development has taken into account these valuable results for the planning which “old” (based on SAP BW 3.x technology) data flows from BW datasources to InfoProviders (InfoObjects, InfoCubes, DataStore Objects) shall be migrated to SAP BW 7.0 technology.

97% of the respondents say that they intend to use SAP-delivered BI Content for their BW implementation project nearly without any modification, as a template or in minor parts.

How would you rate the value of SAP-delivered BI Content based on BW 7.x technology (e.g. transformations) for your BW implementation project?

67% of the respondents rate the value of SAP-delivered BI Content based on BW 7.x technology as (very) high, with the average score 3.8.

Question 5:

How would you rate the additional effort caused by SAP-delivered BI Content based on BW 3.x technology?

49% of the respondents rate the additional effort caused by SAP-delivered BI Content based on BW 3.x technology as (very) high, with the average score 3.4.

Question 6:

Please name the top 3 InfoProviders for which you might have to migrate the SAP-delivered BI Content from BW 3.x to BW 7.x technology.

216 answers were given. 124 InfoProviders were explicitly named by customers.

81% of the named InfoCubes (including unspecified answers) are in the areas OPS (MM, SD) and FIN (FI, CO).

56% of the explicitly named InfoCubes are distributed over the top 11 list, nearly all of them are in the areas OPS (MM, SD) and FIN (FI, CO).

    Adoption of Business Content is high which is positive. However, it’s alarming that 80 % of respondents say that they needed to include a medium  – very high value customization to BI Content.

    In the blog http://tiny.cc/rvoic I write about how most customization is actually not because every customer is different and have varying requirement – it’s due to inadequate quality of the BI Content provided today.
