Today I write from the SAP HANA Bootcamp in Barcelona. I’m lucky to be one of the participants of the completely booked out HANA Bootcamp. In these three days I will get a lot of information about The SAP HANA platform.
The first day started with 29° C in the offices of SAP Spain. At the first day the three SAP Speakers Gerhard Hafner, Markus Andres und Tobias Hoppe-Boeken introduced the basics of the SAP HANA platform and the current available solutions like the Accelerator Apps (not equal to the BW Accelerator). The accelerated Apps are speeding up existing business suite functionality resp. applications through a side-by-side scenario with the SAP HANA platform. There are several accelerated apps already available like the CO-PA Accelerator. And the best is that this app is for free and can be used by all SAP customers that are using CO-PA and have invested in the SAP HANA platform. There are also some other accelerated apps available or planned by SAP.

Beside the accelerated apps SAP customers can build there on applications on HANA and can access the data with the Business Objects 4.0 frontend tools like Crystal Reports, Xcelsius and so on. With BW 7.30 SP05 and HANA 1.0 SP03 (project name called orange; which will be probably in ramp-up November 2011) it is possible to reduce the TCO by replacing the existing database with the SAP HANA platform. I think this outlook is great and Vishal Sikka didn’t promise too much on last year SAP TechEd when he announced with HANA a paradigm in the business application software.
I’m looking forward to tomorrow’s hands-on session – and I’m quite sure that the speakers will do a great job as they have done today. If you want to read more about the HANA Bootcamp – you can read the FIVE1 Blog in which my colleague Sven describes his first day at SAP HANA Bootcamp in Barcelona.
