SAP BusinessObjects Information Steward – Discover and Operationalize Enterprise Data Quality (Hands-On Seminar – Seating is Limited)
Join SAP’s Michael Briles and explore the capabilities of SAP’s newest addition to its EIM portfolio, SAP BusinessObjects Information Steward. Information Steward brings IT and business users together with a common purpose to maintain and improve data quality though data governance. Within a single application, SAP has incorporated the ability to manage metadata, profile data at its source, apply validation rules to assess its quality, and continuously monitor its quality over time. Thus giving both IT and business users instant visibility into the origins and the quality of the data, and the ability to determine what applications or reports are affected by it. This seminar will explore the foundations of the solution, use cases, and deployment options.
Get Up and Running with Mobile BI and Mobile Analytics Solutions from SAP (includes Sybase)
Learn what SAP offers today to help you develop, manage, and use business intelligence (BI) on your mobile device(s). During the first half of the session, explore in detail the technical capabilities of SAP BusinessObjects Mobile and SAP BusinessObjects Explorer on the iPad and iPhone. It begins with learning the nuts and bolts of the Sybase Unwired Platform designed to meet the needs of different mobile users. Then gain an in-depth understanding of Sybase Afaria, the industry’s most powerful and flexible mobile device management and security solution for your business. Learn what it takes to create and manage multiple mobile applications that securely connect to a variety of back-end sources across all major device types. Walk away with an in-depth understanding of how SAP delivers a comprehensive solution for your mobile needs. The speakers include both SAP Mobile BI product/solution management (Karsten Ruf and Vismanathan Ramakrishnan) and Sybase speakers James Naftel and Stanley Stadelman.
Build Real-Time Dashboards to Display Operational KPIs, Sentiment Data, and Geo-Location Information
Dashboards are traditionally used to meet the needs of many users monitoring business performance. But did you know you can use dashboards to monitor what customers are saying about your products and services? Or, if your mandate is to provide information in real time, a dashboard can be the most effective tool to satisfy the business requirement. And then there is the ever-present requirement to mash KPIs with location intelligence. All of these requirements can be visualized through a dashboard. In this seminar, you will learn how to go beyond the traditional development of executive and management dashboards. See how you can use the SAP solutions to create real-time dashboards using SAP BusinessObjects Event Insight, and dashboards showing customer sentiment by leveraging the text analysis capabilities within SAP BusinessObjects Data Services, and how you can embed location intelligence capabilities within your dashboards. Be one step ahead of your business partners, and learn new ways of building innovative dashboards to drive your business needs today. The speakers are SAP’s Matt Lloyd and Karl Kwong.
Deep Dive with SAP BusinessObjects Data Services/Data Quality Management to Enrich Information Assets
Explore the capabilities of the basis of SAP’s EIM portfolio: SAP BusinessObjects Data Services. Data Services includes the capabilities of SAP BusinessObjects Data Quality Management. Together, they help you move enterprise information throughout a heterogeneous landscape. This process can be actively managed whether loading millions of records, or whether checking individual records at the point of entry. Data Quality Management focuses on the correction, enrichment, and de-duplication capabilities, which can be accessed from a wide variety of applications. Data Quality Management can also be used with SAP BusinessObjects Information Steward and the new functionality called Cleansing Package Builder. This seminar will explore the foundations of the solution, use cases, and deployment options.

Why attend an ASUG pre-conference session? I have been attending them for years for both ASUG Annual Conference and SAP TechED. It is a one day opportunity to spend on a topic and you have time to spend with SAP and other customers who share your interests. They are very worthwhile. Listen to ASUG Volunteer Joyce Butler talk about the value of last week’s ASUG pre-con at SAP TechED (courtesy JD-OD.com).

I have done usability testing and conferences and it is a great experience. I highly recommend considering one of these sessions. Here’s an interview I did last year with a member of the SAP Usability team:
So I hope you will consider one of the many available options at the ASUG BusinessObjects User Conference, the conference for platform-agnostic BusinessObjects customers.
