This week at Teched SAP HANA will be a big topic. I was happy to learn that there is a high level of interest in the “SAP HANA Appliance Operations Best Practices” session (ALM278) and as speakers we were asked to add a 3rd teach of this session at Teched. The third teach is scheduled on Tuesday afternoon at 4:30 pm local time and we are counting on another full session! In advance of the sessions I will be staffing the EIM-P08 pod from 10am until noon on Tuesday focussing on “Administration and Operations of SAP HANA”. The pod will be an open forum so come see me and discuss this exciting topic! To look up all the session times please check http://www.sapteched.com/usa/ and follow the ‘my agenda’ link.
The focus of the “SAP HANA Appliance Operations Best Practices” (ALM278) session exercises is to gain some hands-on experience with SAP HANA. I will give a short overview at the start of the session which will include best practice recommendations. After the lecture part participants will get to play with SAP HANA in the role of an administrator starting with an empty SAP HANA system. The exercises will teach you how to check the system health, general administration and monitoring tasks, import data, create a user, assign a role, and much more.
I will also teach the SAP HANA Operations 1 hour lecture session (EIM105) in which the focus is on presenting an overview of the SAP HANA Appliance perspective. This session will answer questions such as what is installed on the SAP HANA Appliance, explain the authorization and authentication options, discuss updates and upgrades, and provide an overview of the backup and restore options.
Last, but not least, there is an area specifically dedicated to SAP HANA topics including administration tasks and demo’s in the “Technology Innovation Zone” on the show floor. Visit the Technology Innovation Zone to take your SAP HANA test drive!
Looking forward to an exciting SAP Teched!
