As a support engineer, I try to help customers daily with providing software solutions and recently recalled assisting a couple customers from government municipalities that needed help transitioning to the Intelligent Mail Barcode.  Government municipalities generally rely on using Postalsoft Business Edition to mail utility invoices and billing statements to their large residential populations on a monthly basis.  Many other public sector agencies, including municipalities and high level public institutions (i.e. state universities, public utilities) utilize SAP Postalsoft Business Edition to reach out to their customers for billing, sales, and marketing purposes.

For example, they mainly utilize Postalsoft Business Edition to obtain the most accurate addresses of their existing customers, along with preventing mail from being sent to wrong addresses.   They’ll also utilize Merge Purge to reduce duplication of mail pieces to households within a defined area or by name.  They also presort their mail pieces to qualify for discounts, resulting in major cost reductions each year and allowing them to enjoy the maximum amount of savings.

But are you aware that there are other value added services with benefits that the public sector is just starting to realize when using Intelligent Mail Barcode?  For example, a couple prominent US Municipalities that I recently helped discovered that the USPS OneCode Address Change Service (ACS) notifies you of any change of addresses taking place.  Although addresses are uncommon, having the most updated information on where your customers are located is important.

Furthermore, did you know that there’s also a service to allow you to track mail using OneCode destination confirm service?  This service will give institutions a view on tracking their outgoing mail and their progress at arriving at their destination.  Once a customer has signed up through the USPS for these services, the software already has built-in features allowing users to utilize this service. In addition, the creation of electronic documents and submitting it to the PostalOne Gateway is another service that can save time and money for mailers and businesses.  This will allow one to reduce unnecessary paperwork, knowing the electronic documents have already been delivered through the USPS Business Customer Gateway.

These are some of the many benefits offered through intelligent mail services, representing the next generation of mailing services and its features and products.  Businesses in the mailing industry can have access to end-to-end visibility by using intelligent mail services and submitting their documents electronically and providing convenience in their operations.
