As I mentioned in the video, the alternative method does not produce any logging. For me that’s not really a big issue either because you normally have your Landscape Fetch job running periodically and you can go and check those logs.

You can find the logging in transaction SMSY under Logs you will find Update Logs, RFC Logs and Data Save Log.

An example of log output (notice how there are in fact eight errors). The errors provide information on why the data capture was not properly performed. This can have many reasons, a missing system number for example.
