In this blog post, you can find how SAP Education China operate and help local customers better equip themselves with SAP solutions. We use English to record so that all users can take a look if you are intersted in Educatin China. Start from conversation first

  • Interviewee -- Jia, Jianguo, Account Manager & Education Consultant at SAP Education China
  • Interviewer – Wang , Jenny  Education Community moderator

Jenny : Jianguo, many of SAP customers know SAP consultants, but what is Education Consultant?

Jianguo: To understand what Education Consultant does, you need to first understand what SAP Education does. SAP solution have a very clear life cycle, discovery, evaluation,  implementation, and continuous enhancement, and what SAP Education does, is to provide tailored products and services at each phase ,  facilitating customers benefit maximum from SAP solutions.

So our responsibilities are to accompany customers from solution selection to the final product implementation; and we will continuously support customer when they require enhancement and upgrade.

Right now, we’ve have education center serving more than 8,600 customers in 18 countries,  providing 77 training categories with 15 languages, and educating 400,000 SAP professionals per year, among which 185,000 are certified professionals.

Jenny:  Understood, so basically SAP Education is assisting customers to fully utilize potential of SAP solutions. Then in details, what do you offer and how you proceed it?

Jianguo: Let’s first take a look at what our customer needs at different cycle, then I will introduce our education cycle.

For customers, they need three types of training

  • training to management – executives and senior management need to fully understand future benefits and implementation challenges
  • training to SAP solution project team—the team need to master core application configuration, business process training, and technical training, e.g. system administration.
  • training to super/end users – users need to know how to use system for their daily operation

And for us, we are not throwing education to customers and require them to “learn everything”, instead, we will ensure the ease of training, e.g. we will fully evaluate their requirements, and leverage our education expertise, teaching the basics and functionalities that are most relevant to their process.

So to have an overview, we design the learning strategies and roadmap, offer training via various learning methodology, including face to face & instructor-lead courses, eLearning, virtual classroom, cutting-edge learning software, and certifications.

Jenny:  But this offering is on project demand, isn’t it? Then how can you ensure to enable customers with continuous blended learning?

Jianguo: When we provide training, we also help customers to build up their own training center. So during project, we have a program called ‘train the trainers’, and we will open our training architecture and learning tool to them, so that they can develop their own learning courses in the future.

Meanwhile, we have a large number of partners, we collaborate together to ensure customer’s long term success. Take an example, we have launched the HANA Learning Enablement event last quarter, inviting partners, e.g. Cisco, IBM to introduce HANA, and now, they are rolling out HANA concept and technology, together with us.

Jenny: Thanks Jianguo, now I have a comprehensive overview on why and how Education play a key role in SAP solution implementation. Next time I’d like to know more stories specifically for China.

Jianguo: Will do. China is in align with  SAP Education global, but due to some local requirements, we have some adjustments here. I’d like to introduce more next time.
