We are very excited to announce that SAP’s own king of keynote demos, Ian Kimbell, will be leading the DemoJams on stage at SAP TechEd 2011 in Las Vegas, Madrid, and Bangalore!

Since Ian will be taking on this important role for TechEd this year, I thought I’d take a minute to give you a little background on Ian and why we’re so excited he’s joining us.

Many of you already know Ian for his amazing work delivering critical keynote demos at both TechEd and SAPPHIRENOW.  Ian is very familiar with the high-pressure business of presenting “do-or-die” demos in front of thousands in the audience.  He’s typically supporting SAP’s top executives like Hasso Plattner, Co-CEOs Bill McDermott and Jim Snabe, and many others.  Ian has presented in front of literally 10,000 people and always keeps the audience entertained with his humor, his creativity, and his fun and engaging stage personality.

For a refresher, check out the video below of Ian presenting the clever “Tool Crib” demo during Jim Snabe’s keynote at SAP TechEd 2009 in Vienna.  Ian is so famous in the role, that CIO Magazine published an interview asking him about the pressure, the benefits, and the highs and lows of doing complex demos for executives in front of large audiences:

And earlier this year in the video below, Ian was interviewed by SiliconAngle.tv at SAPPHIRENOW in Orlando about his current position as Vice President, Business Process Validation – essentially an evangelist inside SAP for how best to apply some of our newest technology to help customers succeed.  Ian talks passionately about the amazing benefits of HANA and InMemory as well as SAP Mobility products.

We’re excited about Ian leading the DemoJam this year and bringing his unique experience and perspective to our DemoJam participants as they prepare their demos, as well as bringing his passion, energy, and lively spirit to the DemoJam stage!

With Ian at the helm, we’re looking forward to a professional, exciting, and fun DemoJam at SAP TechEd 2011 – a MUST SEE event!

Lots of “hopefuls” will be anxiously waiting to see if you (Ian) are a “Simon” or a compassionate empathizer with those that brave their fears and demo and jam, live at TechEd.
I’m sure Ian’s humor, and experience and presence will brighten the stage and make for an entertaining and exciting evening event (even though his predecesssor is a hard act to follow 😉 ).  Looking forward to being there.  Front and center as always.

Welcome – it’s such a fun thing going to a teched.  Although I’ve read some of your blogs – great by the way – it’s not quite Barcelona.

I will never forget the splendid moment Ian mentioning: “Thanks Mum” as just one person applauded on a demo which…. Oh well, never mind.

Demo gods are looking down on us all. ;-D

I am looking forward to TechEd 2011 once again.
    Irene.
