How to add Trend lines in Web Intelligence Graphs

It’s always been a great pleasure for anyone if you are able to resolve a challenging or a petty issue. It’s my pleasure to share the solution to one who has concerns on creating the Trend Lines in WebI Graph (Bar Chart). Interestingly, the same has been raised in Idea Place too (https://cw.sdn.sap.com/cw/ideas/1794).

Steps are as follows,

          i.            Pull in a vertical or horizontal “Bar and Line Chart” and display the bars using the correct measures. The chart structure and result would look like below respectively.

Structure:

ii.            To display a trend line [say for 98%], first create a measure variable and assign the value to be displayed.

iii.            Now pull the measure (Trendline 1) in the chart to display the trend line at 98%. The chart structure and result would look like below.

 Structure:

 Result:

iv.            Modify the properties of the chart to enable/ disable the data markers and the palette color.

I don’t get it. How is this a trend line? Isn’t a trend line suppose to calculate the trend based on the data? This just looks like a constant line, rather than a trend line.

It is more of marking a threshold or value range (BEx WAD has Value Ranges that can be created on your Value Axes) on your chart rather than a trend because a trend can only be determined by your underlying data.

This type of line is usually call a baseline. One of my customer needs to have them in Web 4.0 (not FP3 yet) and used the same technice or similar to yours.

The problem is they want lables in all lines except the baseline (I have to say that this functionality i savailable in Excel or Cogno) but don´t find any way to do it in Webi. Do you know some way to do it?
