The chief root cause analysis tool that comes with remote support component is the Wily Introscope Enterprise Manager. Once remote support component and Wily have been installed and configured in the SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 3.1 environment the administartor gains access to these custom developed dashboards. These dashboards bring the enterprise services from the darkness and into the spotlight. The dashboards not only provide a set of key metrics for the environment but also allow for quick and easy modification of ‘LIVE’ or historical data, the scale of time to view, and the precision or data points to capture within that time. With these quick and powerful modifications to the dashboards anomalies within the environment can be spotted quickly while slicing through the visual content.

 

 

 

 

Some of the key metrics will reside in the java application server, this server is the main entry point for all user activity within the environment. Because of this it is possible to track response times for all applications running on the server as well as logon response times as can be seen in the images to the right.

 

 

  

Dashboards are also provided for the most popular applications which will be running within the application server. These application include Web Intelligence, Crystal Reports, Voyager, and Explorer. With a couple example dashboards shown of the Webi Intelligence application key metrics such as document refresh response times and server request response times.

 

The dashboards are not limited to the java application server. With a minimum of SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 3.1 Service Pack 3 the following servers are available for viewing via the dashboards, the Web Intelligence Report Servers, Explorer Servers, Connection Servers, and Voyager Servers. Some examples of the metrics collected by the Webi Intelligence Report servers include, average response times and number of responses per interval for database queries, core responses per interval, and the number of open documents.

    

Remote support component is available for SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 3.1 Service Pack 2 and higher. There is no additional cost for remote support component with a standard or enterprise maintenance contract.
