New features included in Open Hub Destination of BW 7.3 compared to BW 7.0

The open hub destination is the object that allows you to distribute data from a BI system to non-SAP data marts, analytical applications, and other applications. It ensures controlled distribution across multiple systems.

The open hub destination defines the target to which the data is transferred like Database tables (in the database for the BI system) and flat files can act as open hub destinations. You can extract the data from a database to non-SAP systems using APIs and a third-party tool.

There are two changes in open hub destination, when compared to 7.3 to 7.0. Namely;

  1. Changes in Object type: We can create open hub destination on the data targets [ object type]

Object types in 7.0:

  • Data Source
  • Info Source
  • Data store object
  • Info cube
  • Info Object

Two new data target types are included in 7.3 along with existing ones.

Object types in 7.3:

  • Data Source
  • Info Source
  • Data store object
  • Info cube
  • Info Object
  • Multi provider
  • Semantically partitioned object

2. Creation of Transformations and DTP in 7.0: We need to create Transformations and DTPs manually after creating Open hub destination.

Creation of Transformations and DTP in 7.3:

  • If you check the box “create Transformations and DTP”, Transformations and Data Transfer Process [DTP] will be create automatically.

Once Open hub destination is created and activated, automatically transformations and DTP will be available in active status.
