If the data that is no longer needed in online business, it is written from the database to an archive, and then deleted from the database. The archived data can then be moved to an external storage system also. The system performance will be improved because of smaller database tables.
To achieve this it is necessary to have a little insight on the structure of Inventory Cube.
h2. Structure of the Inventory Cube
Time Reference Characteristic
It's the most detailed time characteristic of the cube (often 0calday) and is used to determine the values of all other time characteristics.
h3. Markers
Markers indicate the stock referring to a certain point in time. We use the technical infoObject 0recordtp to distinguish movements and reference points .For movements we have 0RECORDTP=0, for the reference points 0RECORDTP is always equal to 1 and the time reference characteristic is set to 'infinity' (e.g. 0CALDAY = 31.12.9999).
h3. Validity
To compute the value of non-cumulatives we need to know for which time interval you can calculate the value. The minimum and maximum loaded values of the time reference characteristic are used as standard as the boundaries for the validity area.
We will follow Time slot archiving (recommended by SAP).h1.
