Wow - what a year it has been! I joined the Supply Chain Execution Solution Management team a little over a year ago and I am excited to see how far we have come in the past 12 months! SAP TM 8.0 became generally available on Wednesday and it was a great day for us internally as well as within our customer base.

The Transportation Management solution is part of a 5 year Board commitment to deliver a world-class SCE platform  which includes our Extended Warehouse Management solution, Global Trade Services, all proactively monitored by our differentiated Event Management capabilities. We have   assembled an organization that includes over 180 top-notch developers to deliver the platform incrementally over that timeframe. Stay tuned for more innovation in the near future as we are driving a multi-year roadmap.

We feel that this is a big step in helping our customers optimize their resources in times of higher fuel costs, increased focus on sustainability and more dynamic Supply Networks. And we are committed to enable our  customers to manage their extended supply chains.

Since its release into Ramp Up, we have over 20 customers deploying this new TM solution and our first live customers are already realizing benefits. My team and I have had the pleasure of working with many of them, and we are excited about the value we can bring in delivering a global, end-to-end Execution solution.

In addition, we are ramping up our customer engagement. In July, we will be kicking off an SCM Executive Council to engage the best and brightest of our customer base to drive our ongoing development of a world-class solution. In addition, the development organization is kicking off a Customer Network in order to work with implementation partners and customers on the details of our solution.

This release is a major milestone on our Logistics and Fulfillment journey. It has taken a great team effort to deliver the release and we will continue to work with  our customers to extend the functionality and deliver more enabling features going forward. And watch this space for more communication about the topic of Supply Chain Execution overall.
