Hi Community,

for my second blog, I would like to exchange what I have found about the customization of the Jive Forums, provided in every SAP Entreprise Portal.

Changing images

Icons can be found and replaced in this repository :

\usr\sap\<SID>\JCxx\j2ee\cluster\serverX\apps\sap.com\com.sap.netweaver.coll.forums\servlet_jsp\forums\root\images

Changing CSS and JSP related to style to fully adapt your look & feel :

Main files for styling are located here :

\usr\sap\<SID>\JCxx\j2ee\cluster\serverx\apps\sap.com\com.sap.netweaver.coll.forums\servlet_jsp\forums\root\style

See default themes :

Default themes can be found at this place, and unused one can be deleted to avoid user choosing another theme :

\usr\sap\<SID>\JCxx\j2ee\cluster\serverx\apps\sap.com\com.sap.netweaver.coll.forumsHome\servlet_jsp\forumsHome\root\jiveHome\themes

Change labels :

Jive forums works with JSP files. Most of them can be found here :

\usr\sap\<SID>\JCxx\j2ee\cluster\serverx\apps\sap.com\com.sap.netweaver.coll.forums\servlet_jsp\forums\root

With a tools like Firebug you can define which JSP page is called, and which labels you need to change (located with its ID for exemple).

Some are in properties files :

\usr\sap\<SID>\JCxx\j2ee\cluster\serverx\apps\sap.com\com.sap.netweaver.coll.forums\servlet_jsp\forums\root\WEB-INF\classes

Changing sent email templates :

To adapt generated email templates, go to :

\usr\sap\<SID>\JCxx\j2ee\cluster\serverx\apps\sap.com\com.sap.netweaver.coll.forums\servlet_jsp\forums\root\WEB-INF\lib

Find the "jiveforums-5.5.6.jar" file, and extract the "forums-email-templates.xml" file.

Do the change you want ton and upload it back in the .jar file.

To be taken into account, reboot the portal.

Changing the TinyMCE used to post messages :

the TinyMCE code source is located here :

\sap\<SID>\JCxx\j2ee\cluster\serverx\apps\sap.com\com.sap.netweaver.coll.forums\servlet_jsp\forums\root\admin\scripts\tiny_mce

Now you can give a new life to your forum, making it as adaptive as some popular Web forums - but enjoying the capabilities of the SAP Netweaver Entreprise Portail.
