Security and Deployment

4.1 HTTPS Support

The SAP BusinessObjects Mobile server supports encrypted communication with the SAP BusinessObjects Mobile client. If you want to encrypt the communication between iPad application client and SAP BusinessObjects Mobile server, you must configure HTTPS on Tomcat.

Reverse Proxy Support

The SAP BusinessObjects Mobile server supports the reverse proxy communication between the SAP BusinessObjects Mobile client and the SAP BusinessObjects Mobile server. If reverse proxy is enabled for Tomcat Web server, the client can access the application using the appropriate reverse proxy URL.

Note:

    Hello Nic

Can you share any information on the infrastructure which is used by most customers? Are most customers setting up Sybse Unwired Platform along With Sybase Afaria and other additional server (for App store etc) or are these mostly used in the cloud. I suppose no matter which mobile solution is chosen to be implemented there is always a need for mobile device management and security related to it.

    Kind regards

    Tom

    Hello,

we are actually in the Rampup running in the direction to harmonize our BW/BO Landscape from a Server Architecture Perspective. With the recommendation from SAP we will use the NW J2EE instead of the Tomcat for BO BI 4.0.

How does the new Mobile Service on iPAD work on this ?

    Regards
    Marcus Pospiech

    Nic,

Could you please provide some clarification regarding HTTPS communication because i saw contradicting information.

In the HTTPS support section you mention, “The SAP BusinessObjects Mobile server supports encrypted communication with the SAP BusinessObjects Mobile client”

But in the Note section you say, “The communication between the SAP BusinessObjects Mobile client and SAP BusinessObjects Mobile server is via HTTP protocol.”

So, i am wondering if the communication can use HTTPS protocol to encrypted or not.

    Thanks,
    Deep

There is information in this blog posting that is not included in this document “SAP BusinessObjects Mobile Installation and Deployment Guide, SAP BusinessObjects Mobile 4.0 Support Package 2”

Is there an updated document which is current, i.e. contains information referenced in this blog entry?
