Supplier and Procurement 20XX
Life on earth started business with customer in focus. Mankind being intelligent drilled down the customer and realized the importance of production. It took few ages to realize the actual importance of procurement and technology in procurement.
Till few years back, we just had materials management for the name of procurement but with the multifold and rapid growth of globalization and communication, worldwide collaboration became the basic need to exist globally. IT companies changed their strategies and offered e procurement. Internet itself was not very old concept and therefore it was not easy to make e procurement as best seller. In today’s world, global vendors should keep pace with alphabet “e” for their existence. (SAP was among the fastest by moving faster than the world: to name a few, XI changed to PI(process) to collaborate in seamless way and ITS changed to webdynpro to make it easier for e-end user)
For procurement, SAP was not behind and made every step to collaborate customers with suppliers (SAP SUS), with all kind of vendors catalogues(SRM MDM) and even in squeezing J prospective and existence suppliers (SAP Sourcing).
This collaboration brought every one closer and global but at same time made competition stiffer shifting profits from suppliers to clients to end customers.
Probably in today’s world where customer fears inflation, technology is his only friend. On top of collaboration, technology made things transparent making supplier’s life easier and tougherJ.
Said all this, suppliers with a vision became global, stronger and firm as they were backed by transparency and volumes as side effects of technology.
