On May 25th, 2011, SAP opened the series of Eclipse DemoCamps in Germany, celebrating the upcoming new Eclipse "Indigo" release.

Again, it was a good mixture of interesting technical demos, good networking opportunities, and a lot of fun during the barbecue.

A wide range of topics were presented. The current "hype" Eclipse project, Orion, was demoed by its co-project lead Boris Bokowski from IBM.

Like in the years before, there were demos by SAP employees as well as by non-SAP speakers. Interestingly, we had a couple of demos (Skalli and Mylyn integration) which were done jointly by a colleague from SAP and by someone from outside of SAP. For me this is a clear sign that SAP has meanwhile become a "normal" and well-respected member of the Eclipse community.

We have received very positive feedback. A small collection (translated from German to English):

"Very nice DemoCamp!"

"It was really a very excellent evening!"

"Thanks - it was a super event yesterday!"

You can find a quite elaborate article (in German) about the DemoCamp and the role of SAP in the Eclipse ecosystem on heise.

With somewhere between 120 and 150 attendees the event again attracted many people.

See you at the Eclipse Juno DemoCamp 2012 in Walldorf!
