The “Market Dominant Negotiated Service Agreement for First-Class Mail and Standard Mail,” affecting letter mail, is effective June 6 (coincidence that it’s D-Day?) and is a 3-year agreement “…designed to maintain and grow the total contribution the Postal Service receives from First- Class Mail and Standard Mail services and to provide an incentive for net contribution beyond that.” The DMM changes are in DMM 709 and detail the revenue threshold and its adjustment, postage commitment with penalty, and rebates on First-Class and Standard Mail.
The other stuff in this bulletin is more of the public service ilk, such as May 15-21 being National Dog Bite Prevention Week and the overlapping May 16-22 being Mailbox Improvement week. Also May 14 is the letter carriers’ food drive day, with a comic reminder from the “Family Circus” characters. The mailbox improvement section includes diagrams including details of creating a cantilever support (although I was hoping for one showing a leashed dog in the background), and the picture on the cover for dog bite prevention week would have made the dog look more threatening if it didn’t remind me so much of Wishbone from the kid’s TV series. I was just imagining that nasal voice providing commentary like “better get away, kids, before I take a bite out of your leg!”
The rest of the content seems to be of the normal variety.
