"BPC Bootcamp -- Business Planning and Consolidation is conducted independently by WIS, publisher of SAPinsider. WIS is not affiliated with SAP AG or any of the SAP AG group of companies. "
This is not an SAP event and stands to make money for a non SAP company - should it be allowed to advertise thus on SCN?
I'm slightly confused.
Point three of the General Rules for SCN Blogs -
http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/blogs-communityguidelines
"No solicitations or advertisements are allowed."
SAP will be speaking at the event. This is not a about making money, it is about offering our customers and partners a way to learn more about how to make their BPC project successful and how to ensure our customers are happy with the software they buy from SAP.
Jens
I think this is a fuzzy area. Many events (think Mastering SAP, etc.) have SAP speakers - yet they clearly exist to make money for the organisers - although with the result of educating SAP customers. It is because of the rather large price tag associated with the event and that WIS is, as they themselves state, an independent company, that I feel that this steps over the lines from public info broadcast into advertising.
Perhaps if the relationship between SAP and this particular independent organisation were a little clearer it might help understand why this blog should not be classified as advertising.
I believe that neither you personally as an SAP employee, nor your employer stand to gain financially from this event - but I still think the blog transgresses the rules.
Perhaps there should be different rules that cover this sort of case - where it is in the community's interest to broadcast this info.
I hope the event is a success and you pass on valuable info to many people.
Chris
