On July 30, 2010, SAP AG announced the completion of the acquisition of Sybase, a partner and a market leader in managing, analyzing, and mobilizing business information. Through this transaction, SAP intends to accelerate the reach of SAP solutions across mobile platforms and drive forward the realization of SAP’s in-memory computing vision.

To that end, SAP Education North America is pleased to announce that Sybase hosted Mobility and Analytics classes are available on the SAP’s Training and Certification Shop.  SAP Education is not offering the full Sybase curriculum at this time but only the ones that apply to SAP.  Delivery formats available are public classroom and virtual live classroom as well as onsite and private events.   If interested, please use the links below to enroll or call the SAP Education Customer Interaction Center at 1-888-777-1727.

Learn Sybase IQ 15 architecture, concepts, and terminology while setting up, configuring, administering and maintaining a Sybase IQ database in both a simplex and multiplex environment. The course covers must-know monitoring and troubleshooting methods, as well as important technical information to increase the efficiency of the Sybase IQ DBA. You will also be heavily involved in creating a multiplex configuration of Sybase IQ to support large query loads, creating numerous tables and extracting and loading gigabits of data in to your environments.  This course is designed to teach students on either Sybase IQ 12.7 or Sybase IQ 15.0. All labs will be performed on Sybase IQ 15.0.

EDB795 – Sybase IQ: Advanced Administration:  Discover proactive measures in managing and administering Sybase IQ 15. Expand your knowledge of configuring Sybase IQ through advanced server settings and database options. Learn the techniques of optimizing storage capacity that results in an overall enhanced query performance. Understand the strategies of implementing Information Lifecycle Management to allow the capture, consolidation and partitioning of vast and growing volumes of real-time and historical data with the goal in mind of improving reporting and risk management. Become very familiar with advanced index maintenance concepts and gather the skills required to manage large object data, and much more.

EDB775 – Sybase IQ for Developers: Learn Sybase IQ 15.1 architecture and concepts to gain a better understanding of how Sybase IQ differs from other databases before beginning to develop custom SQL applications. You will learn how to use Sybase IQ SQL and its differences from other SQL dialects. Hands-on labs will re-enforce the use of various SQL commands to build tables and load data into Sybase IQ tables, develop and execute stored procedures, create batches and write a variety of customized scripts. You will then create user defined functions and use OLAP principles to analyze data and Query Plans, all of which will help you understand how to evaluate your query performance and therefore determine ways to optimize badly performing queries. The goal is to identify ways of structuring and planning queries that will result in more effective and efficient SQL programming for Sybase IQ. The course will also cover an overview of Sybase PowerDesigner for modeling data warehouse databases with a focus on the SQL development related tasks and activities that a data warehouse SQL developer should know in order to make valuable contributions in a data modeling project team.
