Open Doors…

Last year, there was a lively discussion in the Education@SAP LinkedIn group regarding the value of SAP Education certification.    Here are a few excerpts from the thread:

“…SAP certification program is one important element in the path of becoming a true business consultant, and the goal must be to become a business consultant. It is not, however, always required and is almost never sufficient. The progression of a SAP consultant (or client for that matter) has to be one of continued education and learning how to apply all of the knowledge. The certification programs that SAP delivers are a critical component of this support system.”

“Preparing for the Certification familiarizes the consultant with SAP terminologies (or sometimes similar terms in industry) which can help him communicate his opinions to a new customer convincingly in an authoritative manner…”

“…there is a valuable role that certification plays, and that being or having been certified can make a very large difference in job hunting prospects. Being certified is just not enough by itself. There are many organizations that make certification a firm pre-requisite, some for good reasons and some for not so good reasons. Bottom line; however, is that certification does open more doors that you can walk through with additional business knowledge”

“The true value of certification is not in the piece of paper you finally get, but in the process of preparation to getting this paper. May be it does not give you all in depth details of SAP solution but it does help to structure the fundamentals of your knowledge.”
