SAP NetWeaver Portal 7.3 Configuration via NetWeaver Administrator
Hi all,
Lately, I was overloaded with preparing and conducting (together with my PM and RIG colleagues) the first SAP NetWeaver Portal 7.3 Release Knowledge Transfer sessions which, by the way, continue to take place these weeks in various places around the world (if you are interested in more details, please e-mail me with name, e-mail and location. Contact detials are availbale in my SDN profile). Saying this, let’s learn some more about the new portal release…
With SAP NetWeaver 7.3, the Visual Administrator tool is not required anymore (actually not available anymore) and all the “engine” and portal related configuration were integrated into a one harmonized and aligned web based tool (meaning that you do not need to have a local copy of the Visual Admin on your desktop anymore!).
All the configurations are now available in the NetWeaver Administrator tool, accessible via the alias: /nwa, for example: https://myportal.sap.com/nwa .
For those of you who are new to NWA, the most important feature will be the search options. Simply search for whatever you would like to do, and you will find it in few clicks: logs, performance, system information, trusted systems, etc.
For example, searching for “trusted systems” in NWA:
Let’s concentrate on the five most important topics required to start working with your portal:
Log Viewer – the web-based log viewer is available under the Troubleshooting tab > Logs and Traces > Log Viewer
Log configurations – to configure the log severity of your portal, navigate to: Configuration > Log Configuration, where you will be able to configure the severity for each log category.
Application Modules – configuring the portal services is available under: Configuration > Infrastructure > Application Modules.
For example, if you would like to configure the EPCF properties in the com.sap.portal.epcf.loader service, launch the Application Modules UI and search for the com.sap.portal.epcf.loader service. In the Web Module details and the Portal service details you will be able to configure all the service properties.
Destinations – to configure the Jco destination used by the applications running on the portal server, navigate to: Configuration > Destinations.
System Information – to get additional details about your portal installation, navigate to: Configuration > System Details

Hi Aviad,

Hello Aviad,
The best thing about this NWA is its search is really nice. You can search for any item e.g. destination/ thread/ log and you get desirable result.
Thanks for the blog.
