PLM 7+ Access Contexts – part 1 cProjects

With the introduction of PLM 7 (Ehp 4) Access Control Context (ACC) is already available for a couple of years. The core concept of the ACC is to have a controlled access to objects (like materials, document info records etc.) . With the aid of this nice SAP standard feature some powerful enhancements can be built on top of it. An example of enhancing ACC is to add cProjects (Project Management Tool) functionality to it. By doing so you can control projects or project phases with access control to objects. This means for example you can add a group of materials or documents or other objects to a cProject project and set the access control for it. Access control can be setup such that particular users have certain access to these objects. For example users X and Y can only see the objects in case the project or project phase is in status “Released” or User Z can only modify the objects (which are in the project context) when the project is in phase “Change”.
