I am just back from the Run Better Tour in St. Louis. In the afternoon, we had a special track for SAP’s mining customers. I gave an update on SAP’s solutions in the area of Operational Risk Management. Our mining customers have been actively engaged with us for the development of solutions to help them to manage their operational risks. The major mining companies around the world use a formal risk management process in order to identify, understand, and manage their risks to improve the safety of their operations. We all know that mining jobs are some of the most dangerous jobs around. Workers who become accustomed to the extreme risks of working underground may become complacent to less obvious risks such as breathing in contaminated air. I am energized by the discussions here. It is clear that mining companies want to reduce their risks and ensure that their operations are being run the best they can.
