Dec 1st 2010 was the second major deadline (after submission of pre-registrations in 2008) of REACH legislation. At that day registrations for phase-in substances above 1000 t/yr, CMR 1+2 substances and environmental hazards above 100 t/yr classified as R50/R53 were due including corresponding extended safety data sheets. Thus everything all right and everyone is settled? Absolutely not! We are still at the beginning of journey and not at the end. The complexity of REACH is still increasing and our solution helps to manage that. How? Listen to this webinar  https://sap.emea.pgiconnect.com/p84498106/ in which I figured out what is coming next around REACH.

Based on experiences made during pre-registration and first registration phase the following came out: Much more substances than expected will be registered. And just a small portion of them was registered to date. While the number of registrations will increase dramatically there is less existing knowledge about next substances to register. Since required data are not significantly lower but less sufficient and reliable more effort is needed to generate (and monitor) data and studies.

The good news is that release 2.0 of SAP EHS Management, product and REACH Compliance helps customers to manage high numbers of registrations. In addition to that there are dashboards provided based on SAP Business Objects Xcelsius that increase transparency needed to manage registration work against timelines. Last but not least EhP5 of ERP contains REACH related improvements regarding Substance Volume Tracking, CLP Notoifcations and extended Safety Data Sheets.
