The purpose of this document is to provide a quick look-up of all Support Packs, Fixed Issues and Distribution File downloads available for SAP Crystal Reports, developer version for Microsoft Visual Studio.

Support Packs for “SAP Crystal Reports, developer version for Microsoft Visual Studio” (SAP Crystal Reports for Visual Studio) are scheduled on a quarterly bases and support the following versions of Visual Studio:
  • VS 2010 – original release and higher
  • VS 2012 – SP 7 and higher
  • VS 2013 – SP 9 and higher
  • VS 2015 RC – SP14
  • VS 2015 – SP 15 and higher

NOTE: CR Redist packages for deploying the runtime only onto Work Stations and Application Servers are designed for the platform of your project and not for the Operating system. MSIExec will detect if the OS is 64 bit and install the 64 bit MSI, if your project is to be used in x86 mode there will be an error generated.

Support Packs, Fixed Issues and Distribution File downloads

Fixes for each Support Pack are prioritized and released on or about end of each yearly quarter. All support packs are full builds of Crystal Reports for Visual Studio, thus it is not necessary to update incrementally. The most recent Support Pack in the below table is listed first.

To keep current and up to date with new releases as well as KBAs and more follow us on Twitter

Update: All Service Packs are cumulative so we are removing the links to previous patches and will be keeping 3 or 4 still active. Links still work if you have them.

Please note: To integrate “SAP Crystal Reports, developer version for Microsoft Visual Studio” you must run the Install Executable. Running the MSI will not fully integrate Crystal Reports into VS. MSI files by definition are for runtime distribution only.

By default Windows 10 does not install the 3.5 framework, CR for VS still needs it. Select it by “Turn Windows feature on or off” and choose both options.

Note 2: SAP Crystal Reports, Developer Version for Visual Studio .NET does NOT support Express Editions of any version of Visual Studio .NET.

WARNING: If you are using any third party applications that use the SDK package Please check with the makers of the software and ask if they have tested with the version you are downloading. If they do not support it at this time do not install the package on your PC, it could break their application.

Update: Crystal reports for VS did not support Dbase file types. Discussions with our Product team resulted in adding the Xbase driver back into the various packages.

See this KBA – to download the crdb_p2bxbse.dll and it’s supporting dependencies.

    What did change in the new suppport pack 4 ?  Is there a WHAT’S NEW somewhere for that ?

            1. Anonymous

              Just a little bug 🙂   You set the name as the same as SP 3 should be SP 4 !?

    Is any one else having trouble downloading these? Both in Chrome and IE my browser window just hangs when I click the link. Average ping time from my office to downloads.businessobjects.com is around 100ms

      No trouble here.  I’ve downloaded each package in no less than 20 seconds each without any problems.

      Hope the best for you…

    Noticed an Issue with support pack 4 (v. 13.0.4.x) downloaded/installed from this page, and then running a VS Setup with CR Runtime engine for .NET Framework 4.0 (as a prerequisite). The installer crashes when trying to install the CR for .NET 4.0 (via the bootstrapper, which has not been modified).

    To fix the issue, I uninstalled support pack 4 and then run my app’s installer which installed CR fine. Then the real test: Uninstalled just my app and then reinstalled. This worked fine as the installer did bypass the CR install.

    Note: Bypass is shown in the bootstrapper…

    <BypassIf Property=”CRRuntime32Version” Compare=”VersionGreaterThanOrEqualTo”  Value=”13.0.2″/>

      Hello Ron

      Thank you for the note. What is the actual name of the file you were adding? I’d like to reproduce this and report it for a fix.

        I wasn’t adding a file, but using the Setup Prerequisite “SAP Crystal Reports Runtime Engine for .NET Framework 4.0” selected within VS 2010.

        I just know from experience that Setup Prerequisites are stored in folder:

        C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v7.0A\Bootstrapper\Packages

        (and reviewed product.xml file)

    After installing CR for VS2010 I am getting an error that seems to be to do with framework 4.0:

    Mixed mode assembly is built against version ‘v2.0.50727’ of the runtime and cannot be loaded in the 4.0 runtime without additional configuration information.

    I tried the recommended approach of adding a APP.CONFIG but it had no effect.

    <?xml version=1.0 encoding=utf-8 ?>

      <startup useLegacyV2RuntimeActivationPolicy=true>

        <supportedRuntime version=v4.0/>

    Any ideas?

      I had a simular problem when I first installed CR for VS2010. I fixed it by removing the prior versions off of my machine then reinstalled CR for 2010. Seems to fix all the reference problems and I didn’t have a need for the older versions anyway.

      1. kevin merrill

        No luck Tom. I had CR for VS2008 loaded so I uninstalled it per your advice followed by a reinstall of CR for VS2010. I did not see anthing in any of the service pack Wiki’s that looked like it applied so i have not loaded any service packs, just the original install. I got the same error trying to set the datasource for a report object.

    My application crashes when I try to print a report using Windows XP sp3.

    – version: 13.0.4 (32bit)

    – CLR: 4.0

    – plattform: WPF (Windows Presentation Foundation)

    I’m using the WPF Crystal Report Viewer. If I click the print button, the application simply crashes showing the window telling you that you could send this information to microsoft.

    To avoid any other chance of bug, I developed a sample app with a Report within showing just a label. It only happens on Windows XP. On Windows 7 or Vista machines, it prints just fine.

    I disabled the firewall and antivirus as well and I run the app with administrative priviledges.

    Anyone tried using Crystal Report Viewer control wih ASP.NET to render BOE reports so far?

    I am using Crystal Reports for Visual Studio 2010 with Run time for .NET Framework 4.0 for ASP.NET CrystalReportViewer control and BOE SDK that came along Crystal Reports 2008 Developers edition and trying to reach out to the reports on our BOE XI 3.x server.

    Our BOE admin told us that it was n’t compatible, so they are using URLViewer with OpenDocument. I was wondering if someone cracked through it.

    After upgrading from v13 SP4 to SP5, the dlls/assemblies in the c:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\Crystal Reports for .NET Framework 4.0\Common\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\win32_x86\dotnet\ haven’t got updated. However I can fish out the new dlls from the MSIL GAC (the AMD64 versions were updated int he GAC too, but I need the MSIL version). I guess this is an installer issue, or it has to do something with the fact that I already had SP4? The GAC was updated.
