Mail.dat 11-1 specification:

11-1 mail.dat spec is a coordinated release to work with the up and coming rate case release effective Jan 2011 (Presort SP6 release).  As of this moment, the original rate case has been rejected by PRC and USPS have filed an appeal.  With that being said, the current mail.dat 11-1 spec will continue to evolve until the rate case has been finalized.

Main points in 11-1

-      Support of FSS values has been added to CSM and PQT.

-      Delivery Stat File Date has been added to SEG record.  This is the same date listed in postage statement

-      Rate case items have been added.  For example, STD Parcel Type of marketing and fulfillment.  Currently this item is filed along with original rate case.  Depending on the final decision this info might become obsolete and just ignored.

-      “Content of Mail” has been added to match the new postage statements.

Must catch date – Jan 2, 2011

Must send date – Feb 1, 2011

Postalone! acceptance:

11-1 mail.dat – Will only be accepted mailings AFTER the Jan 2011 price change date.

09-1 mail.dat – Can be used before or after the Jan 2011 price change date.  However the mail.dat fileset cannot have Postage Statement Mailing Dates that spans before AND after the price change date.

08-2 mail.dat – Will only be accepted for mailings BEFORE the Jan 2011 price change date.
