What is ZIPCount?

ZIPCount is a utility which analyzes ZIP Code list information and generates reports based on 5-Digit, 3-Digit, State, SCF, NDC, or code types.

This utility counts ZIP Codes in a specified field and provides output in either report or data-file formats (for importing into a spreadsheet or word processor).

The ZIPCount utility can also be used as a tool to generate reports/data-files based on any field, for example state counts.

How do you use it?

Type the following command at the command line prompt to execute ZIPCount:  zipcount /c<<mail class>> /g<<processing category>> /j<<rate category>> /e<<estimated drop date ddmmyyyy>> /l<<facility.dir>> /k<<maildirect.dir>> /m<<mpc09.dir>> /t<<sort type>> /f<<field type>> /i<<input file location and name>> /o<<output file location and name>>

or to use ZIPCount from the gui application, refer to the ZIPCount users guide…

What are the benefits of using it?

You can view breakdowns of a mailing to select SCF and NDC entry points. You can also see savings by calculating quantities of mail pieces for specific areas, which demonstrates how many mail pieces are needed to profit from specialized bulk mail delivery (less the cost of extra transportation and labor).
