In BPS manual layouts, data is displyed in a sorted format which is always in ascending order based on lead column characteristics.

Sometimes business scenario demands to  display the data in a different order or based on a different characteristics. These particular scenarios are not handled by BPS layouts.

This blog will provide a simple solution for these kind of scenarios.

Step by Step Procedure

  • Create a hierarchy on the characteristics which is present in lead column. Make sure the nodes should be in the order you want data to be displayed/sorted.

  • Create two different packages where one planning package will show default sorting order while second planning package will display data is an order required

  •  Restrict the first planning package with the hierarcy that was created.

  • Check the output for two different planning package selections
  • Sort order with hierarchy restriction

  • Sort oder with default restriction

This shows that we can sort the Manual Layout display in an order required by business by creating a hierarchy variable.
