We’ve been doing some research recently on the topic of solution architecture advice. I’m part of a team within SAP that provides such advice, often in workshop or seminar form and also in community form such as here on SCN. (As an example, see Ingo Hilgefort’s contribution on BI Solution Architecture at SAP BusinessObjects BI Solution Architecture – System Landscapes).
Some of our research shows that many of our customers’ concerns focus on how to successfully map SAP products to their business process/value chain to determine a best-fit solution. So, in that light, SAP wants to know how this has worked for you. Specifically, we’re interested in those pain points you experienced in mapping our solutions to your business need.
SAP is listening! Please join us at TechEd Las Vegas on October 20th, 2010 from 12:30pm to 2:00pm (location to be announced). This will be a facilitated meeting of the minds of solution architects, enterprise architects and others of you who are involved in software selection to discuss your perspective on how you, in your role at your company, go through the exercise of selecting appropriate SAP solutions.
We’ll discuss what worked well and what didn’t; if and how SAP’s solution architecture advice impacted your software decisions; who influences the software purchase and/or implementation decision; and what other key sources of information help make purchase and implementation decisions.

See you in Vegas!!
