This year, I will be attending SAP TechEd Las Vegas as an ASUG guest speaker.  We've been doing some interesting stuff in the BI arena and wanted to take this opportunity to showcase some of our lessons learned for other companies to take advantage of in the future.  My session is entitled "Implementing SAP BusinessObjects Web Intelligence on Top of SAP NetWeaver BW: How and Best Practices."  You can view the lecture abstract and schedule here.

As the title promises, the lecture will cover both BW and BOE integration using WebI and the SAP Portal.  The lecture shows you how to take advantage of the strengths and minimize the weaknesses associated with the integration.  The agenda includes a project overview, the architecture setup, SAP authentication and security, the development process, best practices, as well as key challenges.  You might ask yourself: When should we use WebI?  How does BOE integrate with SAP BW and the Enterprise Portal?  How difficult is it to leverage an existing BW security model with a new implementation of BOE?  What are the steps involved?  How do you develop WebI documents using BW as a data source?  What's a Universe and what's the best way to connect it to BW?  How do you transport BW and BOE objects from environment to environment?  As an experienced data warehouse developer, I've had the opportunity to design, architect and develop data warehousing solutions on both the BW and BOE platforms.  I hope to share some of this experience with you at TechEd.

In order to get the most from this session, I encourage you to ask lots of questions.  I have put together a presentation that will hopefully benefit newbie and experienced developers and architects.  While at the Conference, I am looking forward to meeting some of you and will be more than happy to stay back for additional questions, comments, etc.  And if I cannot answer your questions here or at the lecture, I will get back with you.  Looking forward to meeting you there!
