With SAP Business One 8.8 patch 12, SAP is delivering a first wave of innovations by providing Cockpits and Widgets with the possibility of linking Widgets to Dashboards.

Dashboards present transactional data from the SAP Business One application aggregated to a level where the management can control the overall situation of the business at a glance. Dashboards let you view a particular situation by using interactive charts and speedometers. The users can interactively analyze the situation by drilling down to more detailed values, select different scales and timeframes, or filter the data to answer specific questions.

SAP Business One 8.8 PL12 includes some ready to use dashboards. Additional dashboards can be created by partners with the SAP Crystal Dashboard Designer and then linked to SAP Business One 8.8 data, imported, and used.

The objective of this blog is to sumarize different articles, samples and tools published around the B1 dashboards feature:

1. In order to get a first contact with SAP Business One dashboards you can review the SAP Business One 8.8 Innovations page in the SAP Markeplace (SMP login required).

2. There is a document recently published here in SDN called “Creating new Dashboard Packages for SAP Business One 8.8“. This document will show you how to desing your first customer dashboard using SAP Crystal Dashboard Design 2008 software, the associated sample package has been also delivered in SDN (please note that this sample package has been delivered for training and education purposes only and cannot be delivered to customers).

3. To import your dashboards into SAP Business One you need to generate a package. In order to help you to create that package you can download for free from SDN the SAP Business One – SAP Developer Network. Just download it and follow the how to use guide, you will see how simple it is to create a new dashboard package for SAP Business One.

Now that you have all the documents and tools in your hand you only need to start thinking about which new dashboards you should develop to help your customers to better understand and use SAP Business One information.

Hope you will appreciate that new feature!
