As a Support Consultant, I have received many complaints about the unit check that was introduced to transformations.  The customers are usually caught by surprise after an upgrade, when the transformations stop working as they used to. Many loads can be impacted by this, and it's hard to guess which transformations may be impacted.

The error message  "RSTRAN 312 -  Key figure <> 0 not allowed for unit ' '" is issued when running a DTP after upgrading your BW system. This happens due to the corrections brought by the following SAP Notes:

#1165168 - Transformation groups: Records with initial UNIT/CURR.

#1366474 - Unit consistency: Corrections and technical enhancements.

If you contacted SAP Support a while ago to ask about this error, you probably heard that this check was correct and would guarantee consistency of the information in your system. You would have to, then, change all your transformations and create a routine to assign a default value for the unit.

To make life easier, an SAP Note was recently released:

#1490927 - UNIT CHECK from Note 1366474 too restrictive, RSTRAN 312.

As this note clearly states, the reason was that "The 'Check on the consistency of the unit' that is implemented with Note 1366474 is too restrictive and is replaced with a "NULL" logic for the "SPACE" unit."

Thefore, if you face  RSTRAN 312 , the solution is to apply the latest version for SAP Note #1490927.
