Following the Benefit Now From Support Package 4 for SAP NetWeaver MDM 7.1, the brand-new Support Package 5 offers additional benefit from integrating SAP NetWeaver MDM with BPM for collaborative MDM scenarios in heterogeneous, multiple-system contexts. In particular, it provides extended flexibility with regards to the master data management UIs, providing additional WebDynpro components for matching, comparing and merging records.

From a process perspective in a customer data creation process, a typical flow in determining duplicate data can be as follows:

The 3 steps highlighted in middle blue are now backed by comprehensive WebDynpro UIs:

Match Records

 Compare Records

Merge Records

Business Content Extensions

In addition, as of SAP NetWeaver MDM 7.1 Support Package 5, the Collaborative Material Master Data Creation content package has been incorporated into the delivery and is also available for download in the SAP Software Download and Distribution center. This package provides the relevant content for a collaborative creation process for material master data based on SAP NetWeaver MDM and SAP NetWeaver BPM (running on SAP NetWeaver CE 7.2).
Please note that the corresponding quick starter package available since SAP NetWeaver MDM 7.1 Support Package 4 (available via SDN download) is based on SAP NetWeaver CE 7.1.1.

In addition, there are enhancements in the MDM workflow (additional step), and enhanced SAP BusinessObjects Data Services blueprints for SAP NetWeaver MDM use cases (e.g. address cleansing) using the MDM Enrichment Architecture. For example, there is specific business content for vendor and customer data to directly interact with SAP BusinessObjects Data Services dataflows, which reduces the implementation time significantly.

    Hi Markus,

Thanks for sharing the information, its really nice to have these features out of the box. It will realloy save time and we don’t need to implement these by custom development. J

      Hi Asidhara,

Thanks for your comment and your interest in upcoming releases. While I perfectly understand your thirst of knowledge, I’d generally like to stick to what is currently available in my blogs. For future-looking statements, blogs are not the appropriate vehicle.

      Regards, Markus

      Hi Alon,
See the MDM Workflows section in the MDM Data Manager documentation. As of SP05 it contains additional information about:

      – Workflow behavior during various states of a record.
      – The Enrichment Controller (EC) Workflow step
      – The ability to connect two Approve steps
