More on Brazil's NF-e (e-Bill of Lading) Requirements has a great idea of Brazil's NF-e integrated with the whole EDI scenario.

In his article, Kevin has commented about Brazil’s NFe which has come to substitute the former paper version.

He points out it is a unique model to be studied by consultants and B2B companies that could offer tools to fill the gap between SEFAZ and ERPs.

In fact, the new NF-e is an authentication procedure you do every new sale you perform. In SAP, you normally create the NF (TAC: J1B3N) and when the output is created, the system sends the info to the messaging system instead of the paper. This messaging tool will communicate with SEFAZ, receive the feedback and if it was approved, you receive a hash-key which indicates the goods on the truck can travel to its destination.

However, the investment in electronic communication just happened till this point. Neither the trucks nor the Road Police have enough equipment to perform monitoring. So, when the NF-e is approved, companies still print a document called DANFE (Documento de Acompanhamento da NF-e) which can be printed in regular paper and contains a summary of that sale data and a bar-code to facilitate the goods transit.

Reading Kevin’s article is worthy reading for foreigners because it brings their view of this subject, before they start digging deeper to Brazil NFe.

Enjoy your reading!
