Just last week, SAP published the new release for SAP Enterprise Modeling by IDS Scheer, which features IDS Scheer’s ARIS 7.1 SR6. Service Release sounds like it would be just a couple of bug fixes, but in this case the new release contains many new and important features. In fact, there are so many enhancements that IDS Scheer (now Software AG) could have also issued it as a new ‘dot’ version.
Some of the noteworthy enhancements are:
- Microsoft Visio import
- Configurable SmartDesigns
- Easy ‘search’ in models
- ARIS Express import
- Integrated Spellchecker
- Configurable fragments
The Visio .vdx import functionality will save customers tremendous effort to convert their old standalone process models into the ARIS repository for updating, archiving and synchronizing with SAP Solution Manager. On a recent call with a SAP Consulting Director, we cut the estimate for manual conversion from 9 weeks to about 1.5 weeks for a client with 100 Visio models.
With the rapid acceptance of IDS Scheer’s ARIS Express, customers who create simple process models in ARIS Express can bring them into the SAP Enterprise Modeling by IDS Scheer repository for version control, model reusability, reporting and analytics.
This version also corrects some performance problems with the LDAP authentication which troubled some of our customers. If the SAP and IDS Scheer support desk told you that your LDAP issues would be resolved in the new version, then this is it.
The complete documentation for ARIS 7.1, Service Release 6 (technically noted as 126.96.36.1998722) can be found on SAP Service Marketplace https://service.sap.com/ > Support Portal > Downloads > Installations and Upgrades > Installations and Upgrades – Entry by Application Group > SAP Solution Extension by Partners > SAP Enterprise Modeling Applications by IDS Scheer > SAP Enterprise Modeling by IDS.
As you can see, there are many new features in the latest SAP Enterprise Modeling by IDS Scheer (ARIS 7.1 SR6) release. If you haven’t done so, go to SAP Service Marketplace to download the latest.
