Postalsoft DeskTop Mailer and Postalsoft Business Edition 8.00c.03.00 offers the new ability to import your own Intelligent Mail mailer id's, serial numbers or Intelligent Mail barcode data from a 3rd party supplier. If you are going to run an Intelligent Mail presort using your own imported information, it is important to know that all of the records that are intended for the presort MUST have the Intelligent Mail information in each record. If you have a database that is mixed, consisting of some records with imported intelligent mail information and some without, you must use Records > Select > By Criteria and select those records that contain the Intelligent Mail information. When Presorting, Tools > Presort > Sort Settings, you will then be asked "Which records do you want to presort?" You will need to select the option Selected records. Once you complete the Presort Wizard the Intelligent Mail Information dialog will appear. Make sure to select ‘Use imported mailer id from database'.
Additional Tips:If you are importing and using the Intelligent Mail barcode from the 3rd party supplier it is recommended to select the same Service Type id on the Intelligent Mail Information dialog which was used when creating your Intelligent Mail barcode. This will ensure your output is the same. If you select a different service type it will change this in the IM_BAR output field. If your provider has already address corrected your file, providing the Zip, Zip+4 & DP2 you will not want to run address correction with in the program if you intend for the IM_BAR output to remain the same. Changing the Zip, Zip+4 or DP2 information will affect the information placed with in the IM_BAR output field.
