Live at SAPPHIRE NOW, Frankfurt: iPad runs SAP Records Management

SAP Partner company nextevolution showcases using the iPad for a business scenario targeting managers as new users. According to nextevolution, managers today barely ever work with SAP themselves, bar approving a leave request. However, the company asserts, as managers learned writing emails themselves as well as using other desktop applications and office products, when you’ll offer them the right user experience, they will come. Hence, nextevolution built a user interface focusing on the ease of use for managers, condensing functionality to the essentials of decision making.

A facilities manager for example would be interested in looking at, say, lease contracts above 10.000 euro he’d be able to terminate within the next 4 weeks. On the iPad they’d have an intuitive selector for from-and-to dates, and a slide to define the contract value.

Wiping his hand across the screen the manager indicates “Terminate this contract”, and triggers corresponding events in the SAP ERP backend.

The interactive iPad screen allows for displaying multiple data in a refreshingly intuitive way.

Here, multiple contracts are shown, with different values and possible termination dates, indicated by their position on the chart, the colors representing different types, such as services, leases, outline agreements, insurance contracts or projects. The manager touches one, here the orange dot for Consulting Corp., and essential detail data about this contract appear underneath.

Using the selector wheel managers could easily browse through multiple contracts, here, by location, value, and upcoming termination dates, and display related detail data, such as documents and correspondence in one comprehensive view.

Visitors of booth #825 in exhibition hall 3 of SAPHHIRE NOW Frankfurt may search for contracts in this iPad-based SAP application, using various criteria, and display the most important parameters. Notices and comments captured via the iPad will be stored with the digital contract file, instantly being available to all authorized users in SAP Records Management.
